Medical Use of Povidone Iodine Against Covid-19. Why Not? Authored by Luis Mendoza Povidone-iodine (PVP-I) is an old antiseptic used in practice of medicine as a surgical scrub; for pre- and post-operative skin cleansing; for the treatment and prevention of infections in wounds, decubitus ulcers, cuts, and burns; in gynecology for vaginitis associated with candidal, trichomonal or mixed infections. For these purposes, PVP-I has been formulated at concentrations of 7.5- 10.0% in solution, nasal and throat spray, surgical scrub, ointment, swab dosage forms, eye drop, and vaginal suppositories. The safety profile of PVP-I at such concentrations is well established and many available products in the market are over the counter. The most well-known brand for PVP-I is BETADINE. PVP-I has been reported as a broad‐spectrum microbicide with potency to inactivate bacteria, fungi, protozoans, and several viruses. After searching the medical database “PubMed” and entering the keywords: po...

Usability Comparison Study of Spot-on Formulations of Parasiticides in Cats Authored by Piyarat Chansiripornchai Introduction Cats are hosts to a variety of ectoparasites, such as Ctenocephalides felis, Ixodes ricinus and Notoedres cati, and endoparasites, such as Toxocara cati, Ancylostoma tubaeforme and Dypyridium caninum [1]. It is important to treat parasitic infestations to reduce any serious and/or long term health effects on the cat [2]. Moreover, many parasites of cats are zoonotic agents infecting humans from pregnancy (toxoplasmosis), through childhood (Ancylostoma spp. and Toxocara spp.) and the entire life (echinococcosis) [3]. Therefore, proper management practices for the control of parasite infestations are required including the use of efficacious and safe parasiticides [1]. Effective parasiticides, alone or in combination, have been formulated in the last decades for cats [3]. Among the parasiticides available, Spot-on formulations are very popular because of th...

Musculoskeletal Pain among Rural Homemakers and their Health Seeking Behaviors Authored by Md Mahmudul Hasan Introduction Musculoskeletal pain is one of the modern epidemic health problems. This problem responsible for a high proportion of impairment, loss of productivity and substantial use of health and social services [1]. Several epidemiological studies have demonstrated the evidence of a causal relationship between physical exertion at work and work related musculoskeletal pain (MSP) [2]. Both professional and informal work at home or outside require physical strains that can produce musculoskeletal pain(MSP) as a result of inflammatory conditions in muscles, nerves, tendons, cartilage, spinal discs or other soft tissues. MSP is found throughout all generations, identities and social group [3]. Although previous studies suggest that prevalence rates of musculoskeletal pain were higher for women than for men [4]. WHO reported that women constitutes 42% of the global work f...

Atypical clinical presentation of COVID-19: a case of Guillain-Barrè Syndrome related to SARS-Cov-2 infection Authored by Angelo Michele Carella In these months the diffusion of a novel beta coronavirus, known as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), is causing a worldwide public health emergency originated in Wuhan, China. The novel coronavirus was reported to cause symptoms resembling the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-CoV) by previous coronavirus in the years 2002 and 2003. Genetic sequencing of the virus suggests that it is closely linked to the SARS coronavirus. Both share the same receptor, angiotensinconverting enzyme 2 (ACE2) and therefore this virus was named SARS-CoV-2 [1, 2]. SARS-CoV-2 is very contagious and its rapid propagation has spread globally; there are three main transmission routes of COVID-19 infection: droplets, contact and aerosol transmission [3]. The gold standard for diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection is real-time polymerase c...

Scope of Tele-Pharmacists in Pandemic Situations of Bangladesh Authored by Mohiuddin AK Bangladesh’s health care services are becoming unusually concentrated in a small fraction of costly critical health-demanding patients. A large part of these complex-patients suffers from multiple chronic diseases and are spending a lot of money. Tele-pharmacy includes patient counselling, medication review and prescription review by a qualified pharmacist for the patients who are located at a far distance from the pharmacy. The most common way to use telemedicine is a responsive model, primarily physician-led with virtual visits stimulated by alerts using interactive services, which facilitates real-time interaction between the patient and provider [1]. It delivers resilience to services and enables pharmacists to work remotely, reducing the need for long journeys and increasing job satisfaction [2]. The rise of pharmacists in epidemic situations has become increasingly popular in developed ...

A New Hope for Cancer Therapy with Liquid Knife & Immuno Therapy: UMIPIC Authored by Baofa Yu Recent years cancer immunological therapy is getting very popular and many new drug have been approved by FDA like PD1 and PDl-1, however, in clinical practice of cancer treatment, it looks very limited efficacy for advanced cancer, so that physician started to use comprehensive plan by combination chemotherapy with PD1 as a novel strategy with a better clinical benefit. Since chemotherapy always produce the side effect like loss hair, vomit and neutropenia. Because of the extremely toxic side effects, many cancer patients cannot successfully complete a complete course of chemotherapy, and some even die from the side effects of chemotherapy due to a patient’s poor tolerance. The extreme side effects of anti-cancer drugs are often caused by the poor target specificity of such drugs regarding the tumor in the patient’s body. The drugs circulate through most normal organs of patients a...
